HOW TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal. Because we are separated from God, we go our own way lacking in the power that He has left for us to operate in through His very own Spirit. God sent His son Jesus to bear our sins on the cross, and He alone is the only way to have direct access to God, by receiving Him into our hearts and accepting the price He paid, even His own life.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV)
Jesus bridges the gap between God and man. To receive not only eternal life when we die, but to live a victorious life here on earth, we must receive Him into our life, through invitation.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NIV)
Admit your need for forgiveness of your sinful nature outside of God.
Be willing to turn from your own self sufficiency and believe that He died for you and took your sin upon Himself and that He rose from the dead and now is alive and lives in our hearts when we invite Him in.
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— John 1:12 (NIV)
Because he bore the sins of mankind on Himself through the cross you can be forgiven and made pure in His sight. He who knew no sin, took our sins now and forever so that we may stand before the Father pure and holy. We only need to acknowledge that and accept it and invite Him into our lives.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 (NIV))
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
HOW TO PRAY:
(You can use your own words. There is no formula. It is a heart thing. But to help you out I have included a prayer that will help you.)
Jesus, I recognize my need for you and that I am separated from You through my sin nature. I know, according to your word, that the only way to God is through you, God’s Son. You paid the price on the cross for me, so that I may have eternal life with you when I die, and live the abundant life here on earth, with the help of your Spirit. I confess that you are my Lord, and believe in my heart that you were raised from the dead, therefore I believe by faith that at this very moment I am saved and accepted, according to your own word. Come into my heart Lord Jesus! Amen
You believe by faith that you are saved and accepted into God’s kingdom through His beloved Son. You may or may not feel anything. Faith isn’t based on feeling but it is true because His word says it is true.
Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality– faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses. (Hebrews 11:1 AMP.)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
Remember: 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved”
So, go out and share with someone you trust that you are now a full fledged Christian, saved by grace!!
